It has been over 10 months since my last post; I don’t know but it just seems that time is accelerating each year – I should lookup Einstein’s theories of relativity again.
So what is new and what has changed? Well let’s see…
For starters, I have been very busy with my regular (non-photography) work last year and at the start of this year with ongoing travels – not to Yellowstone or the Masai Mara unfortunately so not much chance to combine work with travel & photography. And then, when I thought it was about time again for a nice Life/Nature photography trip around February/March, we all got hit by the first major global pandemic of the new millennium. This has changed everything completely for everyone, and many photography enthusiasts out there must be going through tough times; especially those who are dependent on photography as part of their income.
However, I did manage to squeeze in a trip to the Wadden Sea and one occasion we were lucky enough to see a group of seals where we managed to get relatively close to – much closer than a few years back when I was trying to get a decent shot on a rocking boat with my D500-600mm f/4E-TC-20 III combo.
I’ve also spent many hours (more like days/weeks) searching for – and learning new ways to edit images. This has been a journey that started around a decade ago and one I’ll most likely, and hopefully will continue for another decade or two. On some of my photography trips I did learn some tips & tricks from professional photographers but looking back, these only scratched the surface of the learning journey, and with every new skill acquired I realize I just need to learn more and more… It’s a never ending journey which perhaps you just need to accept when you’re attempting to create art…
And on that note, I must have worked on Mr(s) Seal here for a good couple of months; each time adjusting something different, sometimes wanting to give up, coming back, trying new image editing solutions (e.g. Capture One) and so on. And off course, the other pain point I’ve been having was my website, or rather the ‘theme’ on WordPress, which had become outdated. I had to find a new theme which has taken me many months as well. And while I had decided for this one, I’m actually still in the process of fine-tuning several components and settings in this new site & theme (so please bear with me while I’m trying to sort things out, like sending out the email for this post way too soon! :))
With all that said, It’s been a while, I’m back, and we’ll keep moving forward. And as always, just drop me a note on enquiry@fliek.com for any queries or for any (general) comments, send a mail to feedback@fliek.com
