Last Friday ‘Frisian Flag 2022’ came to an end: two weeks of NATO aerial exercises led by the Royal Netherlands Airforce in Leeuwarden, Friesland (which was actually a large country dating back to the 4th century BC, and now a province in the northern part of the Netherlands…small historical factoid)
Out of the 10 days of flying activities, exactly only one day proved to be the right one for photography: the very last one. The weather on the days before were cloudy, foggy, rainy and generally miserable. Sometimes the exercises were even cancelled alltogether due to severe weather with gale-force winds.

But, as is the case with photography, that last day did present some unexpected image backgrounds and I’m currently going through a selection of around 50 images from over 2000 in total to see which ones will make it to my next couple of articles. So… more coming soon!
